Start Walking Boy with your Personal Trainer: Walking for DS

We first had Wii Sports, Then we had Wii Fit.
Realising that the need to exercise and maybe, just maybe, the fact that the portability of DS might help more in the exercise department, the FIEND in Nintendo decided that DS Owners need their personal trainers too.

In comes the atrocious Personal Trainer: Walking.

Aptly named as Personal Trainer: Walking, this is a game that for better or not. Looks damn interesting to me. The game comes with 2 Personal Activity Meter which you clip onto your clothes or anywhere on you. It will automatically record your every step taken throughout the day and then synced to your Nintendo DS. Think of it as a cool ADD ON for your clothing accessory. The rest of it are just mumbo jumbo where it converts your walking data into colorful crayon drawings. You can also rake up points which can be used to unlock games. So if you wanna get more points, walk more. Alternatively, you can also tag the Activity Meter to your dog and let thy little wolfy do the walking.

This might just get me off from the damn couch and start walking. For real

  • Users toss an Activity Meter into a pocket or purse, or clip it onto a belt, and Personal Trainer: Walking does the rest. The meters record every step taken throughout the day and can be synced to send data wirelessly to a Nintendo DS or Nintendo DSi system
  • The software converts users' information into fun, interactive graphical displays. These "life rhythm" readouts allow users to discover interesting facts about their levels of activity throughout the day and help them avoid being sedentary. Data for up to four users can be stored on one game card. Users can even clip a meter to a dog's collar and record walking data for their pets as well
  • Personal Trainer: Walking invites users to set daily walking goals, but it also helps them to recognize their activity patterns over longer periods of time. It records up to five years' worth of walking data to help users track their progress. This collection of data can motivate people to set new goals and become more active
  • Personal Trainer: Walking is the first Nintendo DS game to use Mii™ characters. Users can import their Mii characters from the Wii console or create new ones using the Personal Trainer: Walking software. Users can even create Mii characters for their dogs
  • The "Walk the World" feature lets users draw pictures on the face of the Earth using the total number of steps they take, while users who have wireless broadband Internet access can see a display of the total steps taken by users around the world on their virtual journey to other planets in "Space Walk"

How much money you wanna bet that this things will take the world by force for 2 weeks and forgotten in 2 months? Or that it will eventually appear in the Bargain Bin for Playasia?

You can make your Pre-Order HERE at Play-Asia. The going price now is US$ 59.90

The Unsung DS Game!

This week there will be a number of game passing under the radar with the launching of the boy in green , The Legend of Zelda - Phantom Hourglass 2 weeks ago, The boy with orange hair, Bleach - The Blade of Fates. One wielding a short sword with a pixie guiding his way and another with a fiery orange hair and a big a** sword ( or is it katana? ) chopping up everything in sight. Intriguing, No?

But there are quite a few amazing unsung, under the table, unknown ( enough ) title coming our way. Two of the best unsung game that I am looking forward to are on the funnies side. Touch Detective 2 1/2 by Atlus. A sequal to Touch Detective and Looney Tunes: Duck Amuck by Warner.

Touch Detectives as Wikipedia says is are as so

The player controls the titular detective Mackenzie as she solves four mysteries in the small town of Osawari. Both the art style (which is reminiscent of 1960s anime) and the plot reflect a subtle fantasy mood - for example, the first case is to track down a thief who is stealing someone's dreams. Aside from the main plots, there are also a number of small "bonus" mysteries that involve much simpler tasks. There is also a "Touch Notebook" containing a list of major items in the game the player has touched.

The game play is similar to many PC adventure games and is entirely controlled via the touch screen. Tapping a location on the screen will talk to a character or examine an object. The player has an inventory of items collected, and may use them on other items or objects in the environment. The player can also communicate with the characters along conversation trees or present inventory items to them to learn new information. Mackenzie's pet mushroom, Funghi, is used as an aid in some puzzles.

What endears me to the game is the wry and dry humor which the protagonist exudes, the thinks that come out of her mouth and the thought that she have at the same time. Both reminds us of who we really are, of how two sided we are when we talk to our everyday companion. The puzzle is slightly more illogical but the dialog provided is anything but normal. A must get if you like humor, puzzle and detective in one shot.

More purchase information for Touch Detective 2 1/2 can be found HERE

Looney Tunes: Duck Amuck though is another game that I have personally been waiting for. There is not much news on how the game would be but based on the title, I dare say it would be something within the line of messing up Daffy Duck life again.
Below are article quoted from Wikipedia

Duck Amuck is a surreal 1951 animated cartoon produced by Warner Bros. and released in 1953 as part of the Merrie Melodies series. It stars Daffy Duck, who is tormented by a sadistic, unseen animator who constantly changes Daffy's location, clothing, voice, physical appearance, and even shape. Pandemonium reigns throughout the cartoon as Daffy attempts to steer the action back to some kind of normality, only for the animator to either ignore him or, more frequently, to over-literally interpret his increasingly frantic demands.
If you have been liking Daffy Duck and want to do your best to ruin his life yet again, do make your booking for this game. Current fastest delivery time is 5 days from play-asia.

*Both article are taken from wikipedia. I do not claim to write any of those.

Harry Potter Carrefour Rush!

ITS P DAY! Aye, A lot of kids and adults are screaming in delight or Anguish depending on whats happening to them. And yes, Today is POTTER day!

2 thing first.

Carrefour and Tesco decided to sell the FINAL Harry Potter book at a 40 ringgit discount to consumer. Aye, They are selling it at RM69.90. Thats 20 USD FYI. Anyway, This of course created quite a huge uproar among the 4 retailer. MPH, Popular, Times and Harris bookstores. They have decided to not sell the Last Harry Potter book as a show that they are not marking up the price to RM109 on purpose. Kudos to them you say.

I say they just shot themselves in the foot. 7 times too. As you can see, Kinokuniya and Borders are continuing to sell it. Carrefour and Tesco does not feel the sting at all. The ONLY person that got affected is the readers itself. Not a smart move.

Read more about it HERE.

2ndly

I woke up at 6.30 this morning, confident that no one will be lining up at the Carrefour in Sri Petaling. Reaching there at around 6.50, my confident was further reinforced with the lack of car there. I was screaming in joy and silently celebrating my small victory.

Boy, was I ever so wrong.

No biggie, I calmed down and lined up. And for the 2nd time in that day, I am confident that all this will proceed calmly and orderly. Meh, I was wrong again. And this is what happened next

1) The shutter opened
2) The auntie and uncle in the front Sprinted across the first 6 feet into the entrance, rolled under the still opening shutter, Jumped up ala Jacky Chan style and sprinted for the Harry Potter book!
3)Orderly line was gone, everyone was running at this point
4) Grab the book and line up at the counter again after some treasure hunt inside Carrefour. ( They kept the book in some obscure place)
5) I was prepared to fling a bottle of Red Bull at the first person that screamed " I GOT THE BOOK", Thankfully the projectile stay in my bag and they left the scene unscathed.
6) You know who got the first book and paid for it? An Auntie. A very OLD auntie. I guess all those jogging helps huh.
Thats a LONG Queue...
Everyone is either eagerly flipping through the book or trying to look as normal as possible
Check out the Queue !
Anyway, The first 100 person that bought the book will be able to get a free gift. I was fully prepared for some funky Harry Potter style paper bag or something. But... Let's just say today is Not my day.

Nice bag is a good start to nice stuff.. Right? NOT!
A colouring book and a Pen! WTF
At Least this one is nice
