The Series I watch

There are just time when you look upon a title of the movie and you thought. Wow, That sounded a lot like a B-Grade movie. I would never watch that. But then curiosity either takes a better hold of you or you accidentally watch the show and then you have a revelation again.

Wow, This is actually quite good!

That was my exact sentiment when I saw the show called, Pushing Daisies. It relates about a man with an interesting ability. The ability to bring back the dead. This ability can be used to bring back anybody from the realm of death for a minute without consequences. More then that, and somebody else dies in its stead. He can touch the person again to "undead" him and the person will stay dead. Permanently. Sounded grim? Not really. On the contrary, the movie is light hearted funny and surprisingly good. It tells of how the man uses his ability to solve murder of the dead people. All are done in a light hearted tone. With funny looking car, funny looking shop and very good jokes which got me laughing the whole way.

Then there is another series called. Overdrive. Its an anime actually which tells of a cyclist, how he learns his trade. The people he met and explanation of cycling itself. The anime is funny and all but sometimes it drags on a bit. Regardless, the anime teaches would be cyclist or current cyclist quite a number of interesting things. How cyclist are differentiated between climber, sprinter, power and what not. A good watch if you like cycling and funny jokes with some very mushy aw shyuk guy girl scene.

Those two are some of the shows which I "stumbled" upon and never regretted it. Then there is the other two all time favorite of mine. Gundam series and House MD.

I first watched House MD over a year ago in season 3. I then looked around for Season 2 and season 1. Season 4 started barely a month ago and the show is turning into an interesting twist where House ( the protagonist ) is evolving yet again. The sarcasm is thick, the humor is abundance. If you want to learn how to talk and have a wry sense of humor with good comebacks. House MD is a very good show to catch on. Just in case you wanna know what this show is about. Here is a bit of intro for it.
Gregory House is a maverick medical genius, who heads a team of young diagnosticians at the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. Most episodes start with a cold open somewhere outside the hospital, showing the events leading to the onset of symptoms for that week's main patient. The episode follows the team in their attempts to diagnose and treat the illness.
The quote I liked best from House MD :
If you talk to God you're religious. If God talks to you, you're psychotic.

Lastly the Gundam 00 series. The anime kicks off with an explosive starts with new design of the gundams. Very nice, very pretty. But to quote my fellow bloggers. Its still the same old formula. War, Love, abandoned children, orphan children, religion and faction. Which prompt me to reply, Would you prefer Gundam series to be teaching you how to cook or them fighting aliens like Power Ranger? Granted, the anime is using repetitive. But the fact that it still hooks on thousands of millions of fans watching the series is a testament of something however insignificantly irrelevant that fact is.

4 series of shows that I watch, I think I need more. I am sick of CSI, Heroes are starting at a very slow phase, what else is there to watch?

New Games to look out for

I was checking my calender and realize that there are quite a few games that will be making their debut or have already made their debut this few days. They varies from puzzle game, to shooting game to games that are just plain interesting.

One of the games that I am looking forward to but will not have the chance to sample at all would be Halo 3. What with finishing the fight and all that craziness, I will be avoiding all major gaming website and also few selected major game store, then I will go home and hide in a dark corner until all this passes.

In the mean time,There are quite a lot of Halo 3 Goodies coming out together with the Halo 3 launching.

Click HERE for all the Halo 3 Goodieness and also HERE for exclusive HALO 3 Limited Edition.

Just so that I don't get excessive screaming from Zorocaster for Plagarism, there are also a few games that I would like to highlight here which I am looking forward to play. Some I have played too and would like to introduce it to you guyz.

They are as followed

My Sims DS - Already played it. The graphic is nice the gameplay is slightly a bit animal crossing like but hey, its SIMS!

Prims: Light The Way - A very interesting puzzle game which requires player to bounce light against mirror, through color block and also through prism block. Very addictive. I played it and it got a Snapped Approved seal on it.

Sonic Rush Adventure - A good attempt to include RPG into the game. All the good Sonic Rush element is retained in the game, while more goodies are added into it. Minigames such as sailing, gem collecting, path finding through sea and shooting enemy via screen tapping are but some of the gem in game. A must for all sonic fans. Another Snapped Snapped Approved for this!

The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - How can I forget about Zelda! I mean, there are only 7 more days before the launch of the game! I know some of you already pre-ordered it. Me, I will wait for some poor soul to sell of his copy in a month time.

Digimon World: Dawn & Dusk - I have played this, I have heard from others and we all came to a consensus, the game are worth it. what with two different storyline working hand in hand with monster that are more refined and interesting, this game is good. Get it if you are a digimon fan!

Kingdom Hearts confirmed for DS

Christmas Came early this year! Wohoo!

Kingdom heart are confirmed to be coming to NDS! Oh yeah! *dance around like a monkey*

Below are quoted from IGN

September 19, 2007 - In a closed doors video montage session at TGS 2007 Square showed off three upcoming titles based in the Kingdom Hearts universe. Though the trailers were brief, all the titles seem to incorporate the same kind of action-RPG gameplay of the previous games.

On display were trailers for Kingdom Hearts Coded for mobile, Kingdom Hearts 358 / 2 Days for DS, and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep for PSP. No specific release dates were given for any of the titles, save for a "work in progress" text flashed at the end of each trailer.

Story details were sketchy, but it appears Birth by Sleep will be set in "the distant past," according to text in the trailer. 358 / 2 (called 358 over two), whose title, said Square, will apparently make sense once you play the game, will take place somewhere around the events of Kingdom Hearts 2. Coded appears to be set somewhere during the course of the first KH and its sequel, indicated in the trailer with a line of text reading "time has gone by." The overall timeline is a bit muddled, though, something a Square representative admitted to while we were asking for further explanation.

Coded's gameplay had Sora running around various dungeons filled with floating red and black blocks. During battle it's possible to engage a "debugging" mode to clear away the blocks, but their exact nature and implications with regard to gameplay were not clear. 358 / 2 had a darker thematic element than KH games of the past, with all the characters, including Mickey, draped in flowing black robes. It appeared to support some kind of four player mode, though it just may have been one human player with three AI companions. Birth by Sleep featured an unidentifiable playable character during the gameplay portions of the trailer.

Naturally, a host of Disney characters were also present in each of the trailers. Stay tuned for more as we hear it.

That is just SUPER! WOOOOOT

Reviewed: Stationary Style Set DS Lite

Stationary Style Set DS Lite

I purchased this over 2 weeks ago out of whim and the need to satisfy my itchy finger. It was supposed to dual as a cover for Pocket Book DS Lite (orange) but apparently the Pocket Book ran out of stock before it even had stock! ( i suspect foul play) Anyway, I took a number of picture of the Stationary Style Set and surprisingly enough. I like it.

Ok I can see the twinge of skepticisms on your eye. The thing is this, the Stationary Style Set DS Lite had been on sale since December last year and it is still on sale now. So there must be something wrong with it. Correct? I can see the problem with people not buying this Stationary Style Set DS Lite is due to the lack of pictures of the set. ( Which I will remedy with all the pictures at the bottom. Anyway, to get the short review going. I would start off with the material of the Pouch and work my way through to the whole shebang.

Stationary Style Set DS Lite - Pouch

The pouch is made out of jean like material which gives it a firm and strong feeling. The inside of the pouch is padded with thin layer of sponge which does not really give it much of a protection but does well to prevent scratch. The outer layer of the pouch is laced with an outer pocket held together by those stick on thingy. ( I have no idea what its call and its hairy and cling on to each other ). Inside the outer pocket, there is another built in DS game slot for two games. Which is more then enough for certain gamers. On top of that, there is also a small slot where the Stylus c an be strapped on. Talk about good thinking!

Stationary Style Set DS Lite - Stylus & Screen Cleaner

The stylus is something that everyone are familiar with. Its strong, its hard and we grow with it. Style as the conventional pencil that most people are familiar with, the 6 edged Hexagon pencil gives the user ( which is me ) a very good feeling. Granted it looks clumsy and feel clumsy when playing games that require fast movement. But the Pencil Stylus is large and long enough for user that have big palm ( again, me ). Its comfortable and nice although at times you can't really see the screen considering that the stylus blocks off part of the bottom screen. That said, I would not trade of this stylus for anything else as it is VERY comfortable and Nice.

The screen cleaner is something new. Designed to look like a Eraser, the screen cleaner is large and gives the user good grip to clean off the screen. It also provides a good range when cleaning the screen. What this Screen cleaner does right though is in the way its design. A spring strap is incorporated into the design to enable the user to move the screen cleaner anyway they want while allowing the screen cleaner to be strapped onto the back of your NDSL. Nice move if you ask me.

Stationary Style Set DS Lite - Conclusion

All in all, the conclusion is that, Stationary Style Set DS Lite which is sensibly priced at USD 12.90 ( RM 45.67 ) is a good buy. The Pouch is thin and does not take up much space, the stylus is comfortable and the screen cleaner is pratical. Although, if you are looking for a sturdy protection pouch, I would give this a pass as the cushioning is not thick enough. I manage to solve this problem by putting my NDSL in a Crystal Casing and then using the pouch. This is a good compromise considering that the casing protects the NDSL and the Pouch protects the Casing without taking a huge space.

A preview

Apologises for the lack of posting for the past week. I have been " disconnected" for 5 days from the world of internet due to my absent from Kuala Lumpur. Anyway, posting will resume at normal pace this coming week. No worries, I have a couple of topic in mind that I wanted to talk about. But just to get a taste of what is coming in the next few days. Take a garner at this picture and await my future post. As this picture has EVERYTHING to do with what I will be posting in the next few days. About gaming.

Shock! NDSL Replacement Casing

Just the other day a friend was screaming death and murder at his brother for breaking his NDSL hinge. He was complaining to me about how hard his brother close the NDSL and how huge the crack is. He calmed down a bit into disbelief when I told him about the cracked hinge problem for a White NDSL. Then it was death and murder for Nintendo for making their NDSL fragile ( People just can't be satisfied can they? )

Anyway, I looked around for solution to deal with the cracked hinge, partly to help him and partly to sooth my curiosity of modding NDSL. I found a couple of solution, but the only viable one is the SHOCK! Replacement Casing for NDSL, they have quite a few selection of casing available. But the one that really caught my eye is this.

They the folks that made this at http://www.nds-central.com/ claims that this is a 10 minute job with 4 steps. And I quote what they say below

If you were to change to the Magnum Chrome Premium Edition ONLY, the process comprise of only 4 replacement parts. It should take you less than 10 minutes for assembly as we have simplified the prcedure to a mere 3 steps which is very similar to replacing the faceplate of the PSP :
Right... 10 minutes... 4 steps.. They even posted a step by step picture guide on Flickr
( view it HERE ) now, either my maths is very bad or I can count at least 22 pictures there. And the last picture there say its step number 21. Thats 17 step more then what they claim.

Ok fine, they said its Magnum Chrome Premium Edition only. So are they saying they can do it all along? Or that they are doing this so that they can screw up your NDSL with 22 step and hope you get lost somewhere then cry dagger and death for fucking up the NDSL? And the price tag ain't cheap either. The price tagged is 10 cent shy from 50.00 USD. I think for now I will stick to my original casing.

I leave you here with a Naked NDSL picture. Enjoy

The case mod can be bought from HERE

Nintendo DS Lite Brain Age 2 Bundle - 110V

Well what do you know.. The Brain Age 2 Bundle is finally out. And at quite a reasonable price too. Retailling at US 199.90, thats RM 703.55 for malaysian, the price of the whole special bundle is reasonable. In fact, looking at the included accesoric and colour combination, I dare say that this set is a steal. Let's do a simple calculation

Brain Age 2 Game = RM 150
Leather Pouch = RM 55
Limited Edition NDSL = RM 500

Bear in mind that i am using this as an example of the pricing only
If I were to calculate it ala Sungai Wang or Retailer pricing, this is what we will get

Brain Age 2 Game = RM 160
Leather Pouch = RM 70
LIMITED Edition NDSL = RM 700

Thats easily RM 930, so if you wanted to get an NDSL, I would suggest getting it now, and this bundle is worth every penny

The Root Of All Evil!

There I was, strolling along happily to my rabbit hole to get some dough for the month. I took out my safety box and checked the amount. Shocked I was when I found out I barely have enough to survive!

This is the picture I get yesterday. My fund for this month has dwindled to CRITICAL level. I owe people money and there are quite a few games that I want to get. Meh... What is the root of all this Evil? Who took my money? Donning my Sherlock Holmes hat, I traced my financial statement and found the answer in Play-Asia

I bought no less then 10 Gashapon from Play-Asia and spend more of them on the gashapon machine found all over Kuala Lumpur. GAH! GIVE ME BACK MY MONEY!

After a draught of over 2 months from all the Hyped out cool games. A week from now, there will be none stop launching of games for the next 1 month or so. Which is very bad for people with little budget like me.

To pull in more sales, games are now starting to give Pre-Order Gifts bundled with the game. 2 of the more noticeable games are

Subarashiki Kono Sekai: It's a Wonderful World

Which comes with a miniature kitten to called Pochi a stuffed cat that plays into Shiki Misaki's (IAWW's female lead) special attack (quoted from DSfanboy)

Taiko no Tatsujin DS

Which comes with not 1 but 2 Taiko Stylus for the game. Pretty cool item. Not really that pretty though.

Remember the summer sales? It was not THAT long ago. Around a week ago? Anyway. During that time, I helped a friend of mine to purchase the Animal Crossing Plushie. He has been going berserk with buying plushie here and there. And no, It's not for his GF. Read HERE to know more

Interesting weekend

Two interesting happened on the weekend.Details all about it soon but a summary of it is as so..

First, I chatted with Yellox Wong. The MD of Gameflier. He was acting as the MC for Gameflier event and also the "life" of the whole event. So to speak. Kudos for him for stepping up to the job as MC while he is the MD.

Secondly, A much anticipated game was released superbly early. 1 month earlier in fact. The game is a rarity among the list of games in DS. Although games such as this are most suited on the DS console. Yeap, its FPS game. The title?
Brothers in Arm DS. This game is a surprise in terms of gameplay. storyline and even graphic.. Ok.. Maybe not graphic. But hey. The game play is SUPERB. More about it in the coming days as I dwell deeper into the game and I will TRY to bring you guyz a review about it

As my week start off at a new job, I anxiously await the day I can start doing some real "A&P" work. But apparently to others there are more important things that work. For example. The launched of Pokemon Pearl and Diamond.

As for those that are eagerly awaiting the Pokemon Pearl and Diamond version. Wait no more as Play-Asia now carries them. If you are fast enough, you might be able to get a copy before it runs out.

Head over to Play-Asia for Pokemon Pearl and Pokemon Diamond

Pikachu VS Chocobo

What with the recent sales of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales hitting the shores on most places already and Pokemon Diamond / Pokemon Pearl hitting the shores on the 22nd of April some might be saving the money to get pearl and diamond instead of Chocobo. Personally I have already pre-ordered my Chocobo Tales and waiting it to be delivered from Play-Asia.

The scores for Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales has been slightly misgiving when it was earlier reviewed but apparently the scores lately have been quite high if I may say so.

Below are quoted from various website for Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales

GN (83/100) doesn't want the presentation to fool you, the game is fun for older gamers: "The game might feel a bit "kiddy" in its focus, what with those great, big, cute Chocobo eyes peeking at you from the box art. But even though the idea might skew young, the product is surprisingly enjoyable for the older crowd."

GamePro (80/100) finds the game to be a melting pot of good ideas: "Chocobo Tales is about quick and easy fun. The Crayola art style, pop-up book style graphics and fable stories may make it seem like a kiddie title and technically, it is. However, the game is fun enough that and packed with enough nods to diehard fans that Final Fantasy fans of all ages should give it a look.

EGM though seems to be a bit harsh on Chocobo Tales with a score of Chocobo Tales - 6.0/6.5/6.5

As for Pokemon though, Nintendo has released a new Commercial to hype up the whole Poke Craze Fans ( As if it needed help anymore). I have slight doubt about this game as the whole concept haven't changed for the past 10 years. But I might just get it just to show that I am a good Nintendo boy too :D

Included is a YouTube Video of the said commercial. Enjoy!

Diablo : The Sin War

If you call yourself Diablo fans, then you should really know that Diablo spawned quite a huge amount of novels. Some of the noted titles are as follows

Diablo: The kingdom of Shadows
Diablo: Moon of the Spider
Diablo: The Black Road
Diablo: The Legacy of Blood

One of the latest series are Diablo: The Sin War 1 – Birthright release last year somewhere during October last year. The story chronicles about the early years before the Sin war and how two brothers are in the middle of a struggle between demon and angels. Below is an excerpt taken from the book

Since the beginning of time, the angelic forces of the High Heavens and the demonic hordes of the Burning Hells have been locked in an eternal conflict for the fate of all Creation. That struggle has now spilled over into Sanctuary -- the world of men. Determined to win mankind over to their respective causes, the forces of good and evil wage a secret war for mortal souls. This is the tale of the Sin War -- the conflict that would forever change the destiny of man.
Three thousand years before the darkening of Tristram, Uldyssian, son of Diomedes, was a simple farmer from the village of Seram. Content with his quiet, idyllic life, Uldyssian is shocked as dark events rapidly unfold around him. Mistakenly blamed for the grisly murders of two traveling missionaries,Uldyssian is forced to flee his homeland and set out on a perilous quest to redeem his good name. To his horror, he has begun to manifest strange new powers -- powers no mortal man has ever dreamed of. Now, Uldyssian must grapple with the energies building within him -- lest they consume the last vestiges of his humanity.

It’s a pretty good book to see how everything started in the world of Diablo. The author of this book is Richard A Knaak, one of my favourite author. He previously wrote for Dragonlance series and Warcraft series too. Anyway the point of this blog is to tell you all that the latest installment in Diablo: The Sin War is out. Entitled as Diablo: The Sin War 2 – Scaled of the Serpent, the story follows Uldyssian’s quest to destroy the Triune while oblivious to the danger that lurks in the shadow. Below is an excerpt taken from the second installment of The Sin War.

Bent on destroying the evil cult of the Triune, Uldyssian does not yet suspect that Inarius (secret Prophet of the Cathedral of Light) has been subtly aiding his quest. Obsessed with restoring Sanctuary to its former glory, Inarius has been playing Uldyssian against the two great religions in a reckless attempt to topple them both. But another player has slipped back into the equation. The demon Lilith, once Inarius's lover, seeks to use Uldyssian as her own pawn in a scheme to turn humans into an army of naphalem -- godlike beings, more powerful than any angel or demon, who could overturn all Creation and elevate Lilith to supreme being.

Get the latest installment in your nearest bookstore. For those that are located in KL, head over to Kinokuniya.
